A Guide To Aging Gracefully

People spend thousands of dollars on surgeries, fillers, hair dye, personal trainers, and even facials to slow the aging process. Just like life, aging is what you make of it. When we embrace the aging process, we are learning to have some grace with our unique journeys. Here are the top tips to age with grace.

Don’t skip out on a good night’s sleep

Make sure getting quality sleep is an essential part of your night. Sleep can improve your mood, help you maintain your weight, reduce your heart disease risk, and even improve your memory.

Eat plenty of whole foods

You are what you eat, or so the saying goes. Eating a healthy diet can improve your skin, reduce diabetes and heart disease risk, help you maintain your weight, and keeps your immune system healthy. Some of the most nutritious foods you should be enjoying are:

● Bell peppers

● Broccoli

● Spinach

● Fatty fish

● Avocado

● Sweet potatoes

A little indulgence here and there is also good for the soul, so don’t be afraid to indulge, but do it in a balanced way.

Add in daily movement (that you enjoy)

If you hate the treadmill or will not be partaking in a gym class anytime soon, that’s okay. Adding daily movement into your life is only easy to stick to when you enjoy it. It would help if you aimed to get about 150 minutes of exercise per week, and that can be through gardening, swimming, yoga, dancing, walking, or any other activity you enjoy. Exercise helps you sleep better, manage your blood pressure, improve cognitive function, and even reduce fatigue.

Protect your hairline

Hair loss is an accepted part of aging for many since 85 percent of men will experience some form of hair loss by the time they turn 50. And while it’s talked about less, women can also expect to experience hair loss, with about 50 percent of women experiencing hair loss by the time they turn 40! Some ways to prevent hair loss include eating healthy foods, exercising, and managing your stress. However, if you’re genetically prone to hair loss or already experiencing some balding, you can try hair loss supplements or LLLT treatment for hair loss. However, whether you decide to try out an LLLT cap, take a supplement, or try other treatments, make sure you address your diet and stress levels, too, as having healthy hair requires a holistic approach.
